Adams Puppy Palace
Instructor: Ms. Adams
Our class is enjoying our work together!  Here we are gathered around a lifesized carving of my old dog Jackson.  This carving was done by an artist in Vermont.  We have surprised many people who walk by and think we have a real dog in the classroom (I wish!).  Thank you for all you do to make our time together so enjoyable.  I have so much fun with your children!

Mission Statement:  We are committed to learning, encouraging, and helping one another.  By being prepared for class, we will do well on EOG's, get into good colleges, get good jobs, and live our dreams.

Class Announcements
AR Reading Goals
Goals for the second quarter have been set and we are again graphing the progress of each student.  The dates for them to achieve 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% are as follows:
November 12
December 2
December 19
January 21

Keep up the pace!  Enjoy your books!
Scholastic Book Club Now Online!
I have set up an account with Scholastic so that you can order your books online and the class still gets credit.  The advantage to this is that you can now use your credit/debit cards to place orders rather than writing checks or sending cash to school.  This month the class will receive extra books for using this new system.  You can sign in to the site at www.scholastic.com/parentordering
The class user name is adamspuppy palace
and the password is bookcluborders.

There is a letter in the take home folder about this.  Check it out!
Box Tops for Education/Campbells Labels
Thank you for sending your Box Tops for Education in.  Our class placed third in the school competition!  The students won Shuford bracelets from the PTO.

There will be another contest in the spring, so please continue to collect them.  The easiest way for PTO (and me) to keep up with the count is to tape or glue them in groups of 25 on pieces of paper.  You can put 25 on each side for a total of 50.

It is amazing to think that the school gets 10 cents for each boxtop collected.  That adds up very fast so please, keep on collecting!

Please also save your Campbell Soup labels and any products which have "Labels for Education" on them.  These are also being collected.  This is such an easy way to raise money for our school.

THANK YOU  PTO FOLKS WHO ORGANIZE, COLLECT, AND CLIP ALL OF THESE FOR US.  YOU ARE FANTASTIC!

Unexcused Absences/Tardies
Please remember that all absences and tardies will be considered "unexcused" unless we have a note from a parent, guardian, or doctor.  Please send these in when your child returns to school.
Class Files
 Weekly Homework.cwk
Spelling: Spelling packets are given out the first day of the week and are always due on Thursday.

Math: Students are usually given time during the day to begin their homework assignments in class. Any problems not completed must be completed for homework that night.

Reading: Students are expected to read for 20 - 30 minutes each night, including weekends. Nightly written reading homework varies based on the book, classwork, and discussions. Students are encouraged to take AR tests when they feel they are ready to take the test and do well.

Science: Very rarely will science homework ever be given. Most of our science is hands on and based on discovery, not text, though we do use a textbook ocassionally.
